In this comprehensive literacy course, participants will benefit from a research-based approach to literacy instruction, debunking common misconceptions and gaining practical strategies for effective teaching. Divided into ten parts, this course offers a comprehensive exploration of reading research, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, and language comprehension; equipping educators with the knowledge and tools to support diverse learners in their literacy journey.

This course is designed for educators, literacy specialists, curriculum developers, and anyone involved in literacy instruction. It is suitable for both new and experienced practitioners seeking to deepen their understanding of literacy acquisition and enhance their instructional practices.

Course Objectives

Equip educators with knowledge of reading research, including major theoretical models and consensus findings on reading instruction.

Provide strategies for integrating multi-sensory and multimodal techniques into literacy instruction to support diverse learners.

Support the development of students’ reading comprehension by emphasizing the interconnectedness of various literacy skills involved in word recognition and language comprehension and the importance of nurturing oral language development starting in early grades.

Guide educators in becoming critical consumers of their curriculum tools.
